  • Dr Who

The latest adversary in 'Silence in the library' is a dark shadow called Vashta Nerada.

Is this a play on Vashna Terada?

Is this another bread crumb that Steve Moffet has left?

Vashna is the greatest of all Darklords, defeated in battle by King Ulnar of Sommerlund in Joe Dever's Lone Wolf novel The Legacy of Vashna.

Terada(Katsuya) is a Japanese Animi writer for Dark Horse books

Or is this my strangely warped mind or are the Daleks behind this?

  • Battlestar Galactica Mantra

Love the Battlestar Galactica opening mantra and have found the lyrics and meanings.

    AUM BHOOR BHUWAH SWAHA,
    TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM
    BHARGO DEVASAYA DHEEMAHI
    DHIYO YO NAHA PRACHODAYAT.

Oh God! Thou art the Giver of Life,
    Remover of pain and sorrow,
    The Bestower of happiness,
    Oh! Creator of the Universe,
May we receive thy supreme sin-destroying light,
May Thou guide our intellect in the right direction.

  • Pushing Daisies

    pd

Must be my favourite TV series of the year. After a brilliant 9 episode run the series came to an end last night, and after months of speculation about it's second series ABC have announced it will be back later in the year for another 22 episodes. Having been nominated for 15 awards and winning 5 they had to give in.
I myself think some of the comic acting has been a real joy. I especially like Chi McBride who plays the sardonic knitting detective Emerson Cod.

  • So much for diversity

It was pointed out to me recently that when you watch SciFi movies set in the future that spacecrafts, and cities seemed to be full of most of the races of the earth except Arabs? Is the American film industry that biased?

I have racked my brains and cannot think of one that has come out of America in the last 10 years. Even in the original Star Trek you had a Russian, American, African, Scottish and Japanese crew member but nobody from the middle east.
