Sorry wrong Blake...
The BBC, on the strength of the Dr Who reprise, are now casting their beady eyes on another SciFi classic Blake's 7.
Producers Andrew Mark Sewell, formally Creative Director at BBC Worldwide and film producer, Simon Moorhead; have inked a rights deal with the estate of the late Terry Nation who created the series, which gives the go-ahead for a revived format designed to breathe new life into this popular cult science fiction series.

Number Five is alive?
@ 2008-04-08 – 12:18:53
Dimension Films has acquired the remake rights to Short Circuit.
The 1986 movie staring Ally Sheedy and Steve Guttenberg deals with a defense robot that gains self awareness when electrocuted. Steve Guttenberg plays Newton Crosby who spends the movie trying to stop his robot from being 'disassembled'. He also tries to assess how 'human' the robot has become by telling him jokes.
Newton Crosby: OK. Listen closely. There's a priest, a minister and a rabbi. They're out playing golf. They're deciding how much to give to charity. The priest says "We'll draw a circle on the ground, throw the money in the air and whatever lands inside the circle we'll give to charity." The minister says "No, we'll draw a circle on the ground, throw the money in the air and whatever lands outside of the circle that's what we'll give to charity." The rabbi says "No no no. We'll throw the money way up in the air and whatever god wants, he keeps!"
Number 5: Hmmmm. Oh, I get it! Ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho! Hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee! Nyuk, nyuk nyuk nyuk nyuk nyuk nyuk nyuk nyuk!
Stephanie Speck: What's going on? Is he laughing?
Newton Crosby: Yeah! Yeah! And the joke wasn't even that funny, and I think I screwed up the punchline. Ha ha ha ha!
Number 5: "Whatever god wants, he keeps!"

Dr Who
@ 2008-04-08 – 08:50:16
I see that Dr Who series four airs on the American SciFi channel from 18th of April (2 weeks behind the UK). I was wondering if any American bloggers have seen any previous series and what they think of the Doctor et el?
One of the new episode this series is called 'The Doctors daughter' which got me thinking about the Doctors family. We know that he had a granddaughter called Susan (Foreman) and that she falls in love with a freedom fighter in the 22nd century called David Campbell. But who were her parents?
In Terrance Dicks's novelisation of his serial The Five Doctors set twenty years after The Dalek Invasion of Earth, reveals that Susan and David have three children. The Doctor maybe the last Time Lord, but he may not be the last survivor of Gallifrey.

New series coming to the SciFi channel in May:
Tin Man is a modern take on the Wizard of Oz story. A girl called DG is working as a waitress in a small town but is plagued by dreams of a lavender eyed woman warning her that a storm is coming.
Meanwhile sorceress Azkadellia, tyrannically leader of the Outer Zone (OZ) sends troops through a 'travel storm' to kill DG. She escapes through the storm and then meets up with Glitch (a man with half a brain) the other half was removed by Azkadellia). They in turn meet the Tin Man, a former police officer locked in an iron suit for denouncing Azkadellia's rule and then an empathic half-human, half-lion -- named Raw (Raoul Trujillo),whom they save from being eaten.
They set off to Central City to meet up with the Mystic Man after finding out that the lavender eyed woman may be her real mother.
